benKo is a script that I have been dabbling with for quite a while and if you follow me on Instagram you will no doubt have see some of it in action.

It allows you to create 'bento' like blocks and you can fill them with all the crazy goodness that Cavalry App has to offer.

This is the initial release - and you will have to watch the tutorial to learn how it works as the docs haven't been sliced together. BUT, it is quite basic.

In this two minute video I show some new features: one click corner pin, easy box creation, and smart constraints!

After you watch the tutorial - please remember:

  • You have to move the nulls not the folder. Hold down S to select them. When you first create the benKo block the nulls are already selected.
  • Turn on a grid to have things snap in place - 20px grid is ideal. Turn on snap too.
  • In your Cavalry preferences make sure this is turned off.

  • If you want to 'freestyle' animate - the shortcut for position keyframes is Shift 'T'.
  • The benKo nulls have offset pivots and also variables behind the scenes used to select them for contraints and selecting keyframes.
  • If you want to scale an element in a benKo folder you have to have a Bounding Box in the same hierarchy.
  • Please be patient if there are issues - this is the initial release!
  • If you change your mind on the scaling - delete the previous scale layers.
  • If you have UI issues - please share an image so I know what I'm up against!
  • If you are using pin or bounding box constraints the layer you're wanting to pin has to be a child of the benKo folder.

Over the next few weeks I will compile a doc (FAQ + Tips) that is easy to navigate in Notion. I thought pepko notion had a nice ring to it. You can currently ask any questions / share issues on my Youtube account or via pepkomotion@gmail.com

In the meantime - have fun exploring with benKo!!!
